Toronto, ON |
|
Founded
in February 2000, ecentricarts provides innovative new media solutions
to organizations in the arts, culture, not for profit and education
sectors. The Canadian Tapestry virtual exhibit was developed to be the
gateway into the depth and breadth of the Museum’s collection. This
online, bilingual exhibit was designed first and foremost as an
educational resource, introducing users to the worlds of wonder and
beauty that the Textile Museum of Canada’s collection represents. From
a design standpoint, the graphic user interface and functionality were
developed to ensure that the user’s focus was placed on the textiles
themselves, something they remain very committed to, given the beauty
of the objects.

CBC.ca Olympic web site
CBC.ca
http://www.cbc.ca/olympics
Toronto, ON |
|
CBC.ca
is the online English-language publishing arm of the CBC, providing
News, Arts, and Sports information of interest to Canadians, wherever
they are.
In order to attract and hold its audience, web
coverage needs to take advantage of key qualities of the medium: it is
always available, the user is able to choose which content to view, and
it is interactive. CBC.ca’s Olympic content was perfectly suited to the
web’s advantages. While the main focus of the section during the Games
was to provide up-to-the-minute coverage of events as they happened,
there was also a wealth of content providing background information
about the sports and the athletes participating in them. News articles
were always linked to a variety of related stories and features. The
pages were filled with high quality images from the Olympics,
accompanying new stories and in depth features. The web section
complemented CBC Television’s coverage of the Games by allowing the
audience to go online to vote for the 3 Stars of each hockey game
involving Canadian men’s and women’s teams. A spectacular Flash
interface allowed users to drag and drop their choices in order of
preference.
